LONDON, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Former Beatle
Paul McCartney has
complained that British broadcasters are banning a newly released song by his late wife, Linda, because it contains a swear word, The Times newspaper reported on Monday. The newspaper did not report the swear word other than to say it started with an f. Nor was it spelled out in a half-page advertisement McCartney placed in the newspaper asking Britain's parents to decide for themselves whether their children would be corrupted by the lyric: "You say I'm simple, you say I'm a hick, you're f+++ing no one, you stupid d+++." Linda McCartney had recorded the song, "The Light Comes From Within, " before her death from breast cancer last year. McCartney told the Times he could not understand why the single had attracted a parental guidance sticker and was banned by some media outlets. "Is this the 90s or the 20s?" he asked the paper. John Peel, a BBC presenter, said he thought the record had not been banned by >>radio<< and television stations, but simply was not being played much. "I have not heard this record yet but the lyrics do not sound terribly profound," he told the Times. Back to Suzanne's Beatles Page
