Continued from the last blog!
After waking up this morning around 4:15.... I took a nap about 3:30 for two hours.
We went to dinner at Epic, like we usually do. I had their blackened mahi mahi, which is really good. Spicy, though!
I'm still very tired. I have to get up around 6:30am tomorrow because I have two interviews. Struggling here to stay awake until at least 9!
Looks like I'm on a split sleeping shift again.... I do half my sleep at night and half during the day. I woke up around 1:15am.
I had some interviews in the early morning, so it worked out.
I was hungry after that, so I walked over to get breakfast. First I tried Not Just Desserts again, but they were closed, so I walked over to 'Umeke Market. I've only been there for lunch before, but they do have breakfast as well. I got a breakfast sandwich, on gluten free bread, and it was really good. I should have gotten two because they're really small. Too small for being over $6! I also stopped at 7-11 to get a soda and some snacks.
Two days in a row now, I've phoned Rent-a-Center to see how much it would cost to rent a new bed frame, and both times they said they would check and call me back, then they never call me back. SIGH. I'm giving up on them.
I tried to go to sleep after that, but it took me a while to get there. Then I slept until about 5:30pm when David called.
We went to Murphy's for dinner. It was really good. I had pastrami and it was excellent. I was still very tired, so I went to sleep about 8:30pm.
I woke up around 12:30. I have to make sure to take a nap later because Stacey and her husband are flying in tonight, so we're meeting them for dinner. I don't want to be exhausted for that.
We have a young neighbor across the hall, Susan, who seems very nice. We run into each other coming and going. She works at some local city office nearby. She doesn't seem to have dogs, which is too bad! There's another older lady that lives down the hall from us, but I don't know her name. She seems nice, too, and we run into each other. She does have a cat.
I'm so tired of these stupid allergies... my eyes are always watering.
I bought some Paleo coconut flakes cereal. We'll see how they taste. So far I haven't liked most of the paleo stuff I've tried. Not that it's been very much. (Tried them) The flakes are really delicious! They taste like coconut cookies. Yum!
I went back to sleep for a few hours, and then I went out and did some errands. I bought some clothes at Ross, and some food at Long's, and then I went to 'umeke Market again to buy breakfast, and to 7-11 to get a soda, and then I stopped at Let Them Eat Cupcakes to buy some gluten free cupcakes. Whew! After a rest, I went back out, to the post office. I forgot it was April 15 - long line! Oh, well. It didn't seem so bad, but it was a 40 minute wait. Then I went to Subway to get a salad and soda.
I wish I knew when that Not Just Desserts place was open because every time I go by there, they're closed. I call and get the machine, can't leave a message.
We met Stacey and Tony for dinner at Top of Waikiki, which is a fun revolving restaurant down on Kalakaua Ave. It has a wonderful view of Waikiki and good drinks. I was a little perturbed to find out that their chorizo nachos are not gluten free, since they told me all the other times I was there that they were! Grrr. This is why I get sick. I got a plain chicken dish instead. It was ok. We had a great time, though, chatting and catching up. I last saw Stacey in 2001!
We didn't stay too late because David has to get up early in the morning for work....
I was pretty tired, anyway, and I went to bed around 10.
I woke up around 6:30am this morning.... I might have to have a nap still later.
The new Star Wars trailer came out! Yay!
I've just been sitting here, working, arguing on Facebook, and waiting for the dry cleaner guy to deliver the week's load. He seems to be coming later and later! So annoying. I want to go out and get lunch.
I went out to Kan Zaman for lunch take-out. It's always great there. I get their lamb sausage sandwich, called a Merguez. Delicious. Spicy, though. It comes with these really good grape leaves, and fries. Their food is Lebanese-Moroccan.
I was so very tired. I tried taking a nap around 2, but it didn't work. I finally got to sleep around 4:10 and guess what - I slept for about 14 hours! LOL! I was really tired. I got a good night's sleep for a change, though.
Allergies have been awful lately, so that doesn't help. So much sneezing, and watery eyes. UGH.
I woke up around 4am. I did work. I took a shower about 6:30 because I was very itchy from the allergies, and sometimes that helps. Then around 7 am, I thought, wow, it's really hot. I was sweating. I looked up the weather and it said it's 71 degrees and 85% humidity. Yikes. That's bad for April.
I'm going to try to clean the condo... if I can work up the energy. We'll see how that goes.
I went out about 9am to Starbucks. I got a White Mocha Latte and a bacon and egg croissant. That was really good. I got my usual Diet Pepsi at 7-11. I would have gone to the gym, but I'm saving my energy for cleaning the house.
I finally got through to Not Just Desserts on the phone, and she said she'd be open for late lunch after 1pm, so I guess I'll go over there then. Later, I called and there was no answer, so I said, forget it.
Even with all of the sleep I had, and the caffeine, I'm feeling sleepy! But of course, I'm a bit too wired to nap, so that doesn't work.
I started cleaning the place. I did the master bedroom and hall, and the floor of the master bathroom. That's a good start! Resting now. I worked on my site a bit, and then I cleaned the master bathroom. Somehow the bathrooms and the kitchen are always the dirtiest places (or at least, the worst to clean). This is what I've been doing all day. Work on my site, clean the house, rest, repeat! And I've been sneezing a lot today, too. That comes with the cleaning....
Now I've just got the living room, the kitchen, and the guest bedroom to clean. Piece a cake! LOL! I also did most of the laundry.
We had dinner at The Taproom, which is always good... we didn't stay out very late. I was pretty tired and went to bed around 9.
I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible indigestion. I was worried I might be really sick because I felt so awful. Then I started sweating like crazy. I decided to check my blood sugar, and it was a little low (much lower than it has been recently), so I realized that was probably the problem. I stuffed my face and felt better, but I still had some indigestion, which Pepto BIsmol took care of, eventually. UGH. I did go back to sleep, but it was a difficult night.
I woke up around 7, so that's pretty good. Hopefully I can get that up to 9am and then I'll be fine. That's the schedule I want to keep.... I keep trying! :)
I was sick this morning with the usual problems... I think I accidentally ate some bread yesterday at Starbucks. David's got some sort of mild cold.
We went to Zippy's for breakfast. It's almost always disappointing. But I was still feeling sick to my stomach, so that may have been part of it.
I've just been working. I'm really tired and can't get motivated to finish cleaning the place. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some coffee and then finish it.
It's very windy today! It's rattling the windows. According to weather.com, 17 mph winds with gusts up to 26 mph.
I couldn't get up the energy to do much today besides work on my site.
We went to dinner at this Chinese restaurant, Mandalay. It's not here in Chinatown like the others. The waiter seemed to understand English better than the ones there, and he said there was no wheat in their soy sauce. I had the roast duck. It was okay. I've had better at other places. Also, the place had a funny smell. They had very good service, but I doubt we'll go back there any time soon. It didn't make me sick, so that's great.
I went to bed about midnight, hoping that I could wake up around 9.
It didn't work. I woke up around 7:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Ah, well. Closer!
I got a lot of work done... mostly because I'm too tired to do anything else. We went down to Hooters for lunch, and I tried their bacon-wrapped wings. They weren't that great, to be honest. Too over-cooked and dry. I'm sure it's much better with the sauce, which I can't have. I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way back to get some aspirin for David and a couple of other things.
I probably should have taken a nap after lunch so I wouldn't be so tired. I was really tired all night. I did manage to stay up past midnight, at least!
I mostly just worked on my site. The problem with trying to change your sleeping schedule is that you're always tired, even if you're not sleepy. So I'm not motivated to get up and do anything else besides just sit here and work on my laptop.
We went to our usual Sunday spot for dinner, Downbeat. Their food is always great.
I'm sorry my blog is so boring lately! Nothing too exciting going on.
My friend Mary, who came to visit us in February? Her step-son went to Vegas this weekend and won a Porsche! He didn't want to pay the taxes on it, so they gave him $35,000 instead. Now that's exciting!
The allergies have been better the last few days, and we've had nice weather. It's back to being in the 70's and windy.
Poor David's been sick. Glad I haven't gotten it, though.. it's been nice having him home more.
I got up around 7:30, which I didn't want to do. I had a long nap later on.
I was in the mood for McDonald's, so I went there and got lunch. Later, I went to Safeway to pick up some stuff.
I was really tired about 11pm, but then everything hurt. I think from spending too much time on the computer (and with the laptop on my legs), and not enough exercise. My legs, back and right shoulder hurt a lot. I took medicine and Ben Gay, then a hot shower. It was awful.
I've been sitting on the couch again because my lower back was hurting from not enough lumbar support in my chair. I ordered a new lumbar pillow, but it's not arrived yet.
Even though I was up a lot during the night, I woke up around 8am and couldn't get back to sleep. Hopefully sometime soon I can start waking up around 9 am and not any other time.
I'm vowing right now to finish cleaning the apartment this week and start going back to the gym. I feel really fat. Blah.
OK, enough complaining.
Stacey's been posting some great Hawaii pictures on Facebook. Looks like they're having a great time!
We were both sorry to miss Science Pub at Gordon Biersch tonight. We enjoy it a lot every month. They only have about 6 of them a year because of holidays and breaks etc. so we hate to miss it.
I haven't heard back yet from the Cinco de Mayo people, so I guess our band isn't playing for the festivities. That's too bad! We're going to have to schedule a rehearsal soon and get us some gigs again. Hopefully everyone is al lhealthy now.
Have a great week!
